Mens Results 13th May 2012
Monday, 14 May 2012 11:35

Respectable weekend for the mens teams.

6ths got the ball rolling with a 9am start v West. At the break the scores were even at 1-1, with Jamie Astill getting the Hornets on the board. As the game wore on it looked likely to end in a stalemate until around 1:30 left on the clock a series of PC's were finally convertted by the Alex Thompson to give 6ths thier first win of the season. After 5 draws, they were due a win. Great job lads!

4ths then took on West. West are a very strong side in this years 4th Grade competition and sit way out on top of the ladder. However it was the Hornets who scored first on a counter attack, Matt Bruton at RI finding a lovely ball to the RW in Ben Salisbury who tossed the ball into the path of Scott Rainbow who rounded the keeper and put the ball away. At this stage Hornets were looking pretty good but West experience showed and they managed to score 3 goals to lead at the break. A bit of a halftime restructure and Hornets were a lot more competitive in the second period, Scott bagging a PC goal to make the scores 3-2 before West wetn ahead 4-2. A few late chances to the Hornets were not taken and the game ended 4-2. A solid performance against the benchmark side of the competition. 4ths are improving with every game.

3rds were looking to extend thier unbeaten run in 2012 and took on West who have been hot and cold this season. Hornets took a 1-0 lead into the break thanks to a Paul Baxter roll out and shoot. Despite the slender lead, Hornets had dominated the game quite well and West didnt offer much up front. Finally the goals flowed in the second half with Darren Stocks bagging a double and Scott Rainbow off the bench convertting a PC rebound to give a 4-0 win. Another solid performance.

May 5th and 6th Results
Tuesday, 08 May 2012 12:51

Respectable weekend. couple wins, a draw and a loss.

The Hornets womens team got the ball rolling Sat arvo with a 1-0 victory over Rustlers. The team played well and it was Sals Rolfe who struck late in the game from a PC to secure the victory. The team remains undefeated in the competition for 2012.

The Hawks womens team were up against one of the big guns of the comp and found the going tough, being beaten 5-1 by Norths. Skipper Jenny Baxter thinks once the team secures a permanent goalkeeper Hawks results will begin to turn around.

6th Grade men took on University and secured thier 5th draw from 6 games. Alex goodwin equalised right on halftime with a nice diving deflection. He then rightfully should of scored the teams second, but I think Mitchell Everingham may have got the final touch. 2-2 it ended!

4th Grade men were up against 2nd placed Colts and were in for a tough game. Colts dominated for lengthy periods but struggled to break through a rock solid Hornets defence. Youngsters Daniel Farley, Daniel Thompson and Ryan Flack bagged a goal each whilst Chris Southall and Nick Thiele convertted good PCs to give Hornets a much needed 5-2 victory.

3rds had the weekend off.

Hoodie orders due by end of this weekend. Get it done!

Also, the annual Gloucester Carnival is on sunday of the June Long Weekend, we will once again be enetering a team. Any player from the 3 mens grades are welcome. Let Scott know.

Season so far!
Friday, 27 April 2012 09:09

So far the season is going well.

The 2 womens teams are holding thier own in the local comp. Hornets are doing better with a few good wins, but the Hawks are hanging in there. The much anticipated Hornets v Hawks clash was deferred due to lack of player numbers available middle weekend of the school holidays, so when that game gets rescheduled it should be  abeauty. Plenty of talk on facebook about that upcoming clash!

Men are having a mixed bag. The top side sits unbeaten and top of the ladder, clearly the form team this early in the season. Still plenty of work to do but if they want to be there on GF day. 4ths sit mid table but do have the top 2 teams in their next two clashes. Performances in these games will go a long way to determining their chances for the season. 6ths started brightly but have fallen off the pace slightly, the team in dire need of a player to step up and score goals. But doing well none the less!!

Hook in2 hockey is due to start soon. Saturday mornings. We need a couple more helpers.
